Shou Sugi Ban House offers a balance between seclusion and connection. Whether gathering for meals in the communal dining room overlooking the property’s cherry orchard, or assembling in the demonstration kitchen for culinary workshops, guests are able to connect in spontaneous and meaningful ways.

The architecture invites connection while providing an array of public and private spaces. The Main Barn offers a light-filled space that encourages community, with a generous second-floor conference room for private meetings, corporate retreats, workshops and events. Evenings can be spent under the stars, gathered around a fire circle in ceremony or for simple enjoyment.

Slow down and discover your innate wisdom. We honor timeless truths, curiosity and the joy of discovery. We recognize that the ultimate luxury is the opportunity to not invite the future nor dwell longingly on the past, but instead to be in the infinite present.

Every element of your stay has been thoughtfully curated to gently encourage these moments of insight, lightness and freedom from habitual patterns.

Guests can take part in multiple healing modalities using sound, energy, Reiki and aromatherapy in the Healing Arts Barn. The Tea Lounge invites visitors into the ceremonial world of teas, tonics and elixirs, offering individual consultations and customized creations. The Meditation Hall provides a wide range of meditative experiences, created to nurture awareness and wholeness, and appropriate to individuals based on their personal needs and wishes.

A full array of movement classes for both physical and mental clarity are offered in the Movement Pavilion, an open-air structure that invites the outdoors in. Guests can partake in private sessions and group classes for strength training, body conditioning, yoga, Pilates, floating meditation, breathwork, aerial yoga, T’ai Chi, qigong and other integrative mind-body activities.

Daily guided beach hikes allow guests precious time to be in nature, taking in fresh ocean air, the rhythm of the waves and the simplicity of sand, water and sky.

At Shou Sugi Ban House, water is healer, inspiration, teacher and muse. Reflecting our close proximity to the ocean, water plays a central role in our programming, spa and overall guest experience.

We offer several hot and cold hydrotherapy pools, as well as a Watsu treatment pool, for a form of aquatic bodywork that gently leads to enhancement of the parasympathetic nervous system. In addition, nearby ocean waters contain many minerals that naturally heal and detoxify, promoting pain relief, rejuvenation and renewal.
